Mindfulness in Therapy
"What you seek is seeking you." - Rumi
If you're a seeker, on a journey of personal growth, you may be looking for a therapist who uses mindfulness techniques. I love working with people who have begun a spiritual journey of some kind and have gotten stuck at a certain point.
If you're like me, you devour books about personal growth and transformation written by authors including Elizabeth Gilbert, Brené Brown, Elizabeth Lesser, Glennon Doyle Melton, and basically anyone who has ever been on Oprah's Super Soul Sunday.
You read the teachings of Pema Chödrön, Tara Brach, Sharon Salzberg and Thich Nhat Hahn. You also keep up with the latest tips from MindBodyGreen, you practice yoga and meditation, you eat clean...but still something is missing. You ask yourself, 'how can I apply this to my life? I get it in my head, but for some reason I feel stuck in being able to put these concepts into action. How can I connect with my own inner knowing and live my life from a place of intention, authenticity and spiritual connection (whatever that means to you)?' I've been there too.
To me, spiritual connection means feeling a part of something larger than myself. Whether you call it God, Spirit, the Universe, Flow, Mother Earth or another name, we are talking about the same thing. Personally, I didn't know it was missing until I found it. I found it when I got more connected with my inner wisdom and began showing up more authentically in my own life. Now I feel the inside and the outside match - most of the time! I'm on a continual journey of personal growth. If you are too, and you want some help getting past those stuck points on your journey, get in touch with me! I would love to walk alongside you. I don't claim to have all the answers, but I don't have to. The answers are within you, and I'd love to help you find them.
I use mindfulness, somatic (body-based) and expressive arts techniques as well as self compassion in my work. I have a post-graduate certificate in using expressive arts and mindfulness techniques with trauma and I have completed Level 1 of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training. I am also a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator. Wondering what that means? Go here to learn how I use this method, based on the research of Brené Brown.
